Founder Corner

Dear Friend,

Join us in making a difference in the lives of our Precious Stones. Dangwa Initiative is an organization born out of a concern of the ripple effects caused by the devastation of HIV/AIDS on the girl children of Zimbabwe and Sub-Sahara Africa. As a Christian based organization we get our inspiration from James 1:27 which states, "Pure and undefiled religion before God our Father is to take care of widows and orphans in their time of need..." We provide services that elevate AIDS orphan girls and women in particular as we feel they are most at risk. Girls and women are often the victims of ignorance and unfair traditional practices. Such practices include the non-education of girls and the giving of girls to marriage at an early age both forms of violence against girls. Dangwa Initiative believes that education should be provided to all children equally, therefore, our programs are created to bridge the gap between the advancement of girls and their counterparts. It is said that the education of girls is the cornerstone of development in any society. We believe that when a girl gets a basic education, they are more likely to grow up healthy. They are also more likely to have stable household incomes resulting in empowerment and stronger communities.

Our strong belief in strengthening family structures and utilizing non-traditional models to fight against AIDS and violence against women and girls is what sets us apart. Through our AIDS orphans outreach program, Precious Stones, (Rev 21:19) we serve girls in rural Zimbabwe. We support girls and women in ways we feel make the most impact - education; economic development and community empowerment.

Please join me in empowering, restoring dignity and respect to AIDS orphan girls, widows and grandmothers made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS. Thank you for your support. God bless you and God bless Zimbabwe!

Blessings,

Teresa Dangwa
